Cashel House Hotel Tree Restoration Project
There are hotels that lead by example and Cashel House Hotel is one of them. Rather than investing in the ever increasing and somewhat boring leisure facilities popular in hotels Cashel House are instead focussing on the restoration of their 50 acres of woodland and gardens, which endured a violent visit by the infamous Storm Éowyn last winter.

During the winter of 2025 Ireland experienced a rare and violent storm – Storm Éowyn – which wrecked havoc, particularly along the west coast of Ireland. Sometimes these natural events present opportunities and so the McEvilly family are having to replace gaps in their extensive gardens and woodlands. They are offering guests, or just keen nature lovers, an opportunity to adopt a tree/shrub. This will go some way towards alleviating the cost of bringing this unique landscape back to its previous glory. As a Adopter/Sponsor you can be proud that you are contributing to the rejuvenation of this wonderful habitat.

Set across 50 acres, the botanical haven at Cashel House Hotel is a sanctuary of beauty and natural wonder. Benefiting from the warmth of the Gulf Stream, the trees and plants burst into life each Spring with a stunning display of blossoms. Meandering pathways lead through secluded spaces, where benches invite quiet reflection amid vibrant rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, and rare magnolias – many imported from Tibet. They thrive in their new location along the Wild Atlantic Way overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. I recall on one visit meeting some members of the British Tree Society who had come especially to notate the rare trees in this secret oasis.
I think the idea of offering an opportunity for sustaining a landscape for decades into the future is a much better tonic than indulging in a spa makeover. Cashel House Hotel near Roundstone in Co. Galway has stunning gardens and woodlands that are ideal for walking and outdoor enjoyment

There are three categories of Adoption/Sponsorship for Cashel House’s Tree Restoration Tree Project. Just decide which of the Classic, Ornamental or Mature Collection suits you. With a little luck and a lot of TLC by the owners your tree or shrub will survive and thrive for many decades to come. You can relax in the knowledge that the McEvilly family of Cashel House will nurture them in the best possible way. You may visit your tree (by prior appointment) and your adopted tree will display a discreet plaque with your name for posterity. Imagine a future generation of your family looking with pride at a plaque with your name having contributed to this restoration. For details visit Cashel House Hotel Tree Restoration Project.
I have yet to see a really rejuvenated person exiting a hotel’s leisure facilities but I have seen lots of guests at Cashel House returning from a walk around the grounds and there is no question as to which experience wins the day, judging from the healthy complexions and happy smiles. Well done to Cashel House for thinking outside the box.
